Meet the Innkeeper
The Smith Family
"Share their
Passion"
We asked our staff to
"share their passion" regarding what they like best about
the Napa Valley area in general, and the Inn itself. Enjoy!
Deniese
To me, passion is something that you feel deeply, all the
way to
your toes! One of my greatest passions is living and
working in the Napa Valley. Coming to the valley from Los
Angeles to live and raise our children was one of the best
decisions my husband and I have ever made. There we had smog
and crime. Here we have clean air, wonderful scenery, and
the people are very real. People say passion fades with age.
But after having worked at the Inn for more than 12 years
now, I can still say that each year here is better than the
year before. When you come visit us, ask me to share my
passion for the wine, food, people, and landscapes unique to
the Napa Valley. Who knows, maybe-like me-you won't ever
want to leave!

I think what I like most about this area is the variety of
things to see and do. I love pointing out to guests a
certain winery that I think they might be interested in, or
helping them book a balloon ride. There's something in this
valley that appeals to almost everyone, and it's fun helping
people find that special thing that matches their interests.

What calls me most about this place is the quiet, the
tranquility. I call the Napa Valley and in particular the
Inn my "little piece of heaven." Gardening is my passion,
and I love the Inn's grounds and the surrounding landscapes.
Guests thank me for having a great time during their stay
here, and I just smile, because it was my pleasure. I find
helping people have a wonderful adventure a very rewarding
job.

What I love most about this area is the physical beauty of
the valley. I love the climate, the variety of trees we can
see, the roses throughout the valley. Most of our guests
live where it's hot and humid, and you can't have roses, or
walk outside and snip herbs out of your garden. The
friendliness and coziness of this place also are special to
me.

I've lived in a lot of places throughout the U.S., and I can
say
without a doubt that the Napa Valley is my favorite
place. Not only is it beautiful, there's a peacefulness in
the country that you just don't find in the
hustle-and-bustle of a city. I love meeting guests from all
over the world. And it's funny how wine can be a great
equalizer. Wine can bring the richest person in the world
and the poorest together to talk and share their passion
about wine. As far as the Inn, I consider it an extension of
my home. When I spend a night here, it feels like I'm a
million miles away from home…even though my house is only
five minutes away

Five years ago my wife and I were living in the Bay Area and
looking for a new place to live. We looked at a lot of
places and ended up falling in love with the Napa Valley.
The laidback country lifestyle is very relaxing. Likewise,
the Inn has a very family-oriented feel to it. We want to
help our guests have the most wonderful experience possible.
And it's so beautiful. I tell people living in the Napa
Valley and working at The Wine Country Inn is like living on
a postcard.

I have so many passions about this place that it's difficult
to begin. I love the grounds, and all the colors and
textures and watching things evolve not only each season,
but over the years. I love the local fishing, the outdoor
opportunities so close by. And of course there's all the
endless choices of restaurants, trying something new, going
back to old favorites.

I just think the Napa Valley is a fantastic place to live.
The wineries are absolutely wonderful, and I enjoy learning
more about each winery and the wine making process-and
sharing this new knowledge with our guests! As far as the
Inn is concerned, I couldn't be happier working here. Our
crew is basically family, and I enjoy helping our guests
because almost all are fun, interesting, and want to have a
great time. |
